Train Man:Densha Otoko manga vol. 1

The last few weeks I’ve been reading different things, but I’ve just forgotten to mention them.

Nas últimas semanas tenho lido várias coisas diferentes, mas fico esquecendo de mencioná-las.

Yesterday I just finished the 3 books manga series Train Man: Densha Otoko, by artist Hidenori Hana, which I liked very much. It retells the story of a Japanese geek that in a crisis situation speaks up to a drunk man in a train and ends up involved in a series of dates with a nice girl. They of course fall in love, but the whole process is shared by a forum of people who give the Train Man a lot of advice about what to do, what to wear, where to go and such. The art is manga style, but not too childish, which makes it quite enjoyable. I really recomend this one. 😉

Ontem terminei de ler o terceiro e último livro do mangá Train Man:Densha Otoko, do artista Hidenori Hana, do qual gostei muito. O mangá reconta a história de um nerd japonês que, numa situação crítica, ousa agir contra um bêbado num trem e acaba se envolvendo numa série de encontros com uma jovem. Eles naturalmente acabam se apaixonando, mas o processo todo é seguido por um forum de pessoas que dão ao Train Man conselhos sobre o que fazer, o que vestir, aonde ir etc. O estilo artístico é típico de mangá, porém não é infantil, o que o torna muito agradável de ler. Este eu recomendo. 😉

While on vacation I read The Mermaids Singing, by Val McDermid, the first installment of a wonderful series. It tells the story of Tony Hill, a psychologist preparing a profilers Task Force to catch serial offenders in modern Britain and his troubled relationship with police colleague Carol Jordan. And right after that I’ve started The Wire in the Blood, the second book on the series. It’s given its name to a TV drama series, which is already in its fifth year on British television.

Durante as férias eu li The Mermaids Singing, de Val McDermid, o primeiro de uma série maravilhosa. Conta a história de Tony Hill, um psicólogo montando uma força-tarefa de especialistas em traçar perfis de assassinos seriais na Grã Bretanha moderna, e seu complicado relacionamento com sua colega policial Carol Jordan. Logo após comecei a ler The Wire in the Blood, o segundo livro da série, que emprestou o nome a uma série de TV. A série acabou de fechar o seu quinto ano de produção.
