Born in Brazil a bit more than 40 years ago, I’m now married to a Dutch man and mother of a Dutch girl, so I’m Dutch too. Adapting to this marshland wasn’t easy, but I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. Living far from the family has pros and cons, of course.
Me being the way I am, I feel more at home in the Netherlands than I’ve ever felt in Brazil. So, I doubt I’ll ever return to the mother land. But Itry to keep the country, the language and its culture alive in me and and to pass that to my little girl.
Nascida no Brasil há mais de 40 anos, sou esposa de um holandês e mãe de uma holandesinha, então também me tornei holandesa. Adaptar-me a este pantanal não foi fácil, mas não o trocaria por nada no mundo. Morar longe da família tem seus prós e contras, é claro.
Eu, sendo do jeito que sou, sinto-me mais em casa na Holanda do que jamais me senti no Brasil. Então duvido que algum dia eu volte para a terra natal. Mas tento manter o país, o idioma e a cultura vivos em mim e passar isso para a minha filha.
